An engine is just an engine, right? We hear that often, but to truly make an accurate diagnosis and thus be able to provide a quick, lasting solution, it’s a bit more complicated than that. We have specialized in engines for years—Caterpillar engines, to be precise—and focus on two main branches: maritime applications and industrial non-road applications. Despite the same yellow color, there are quite a few internal and external differences between these engines. A good understanding of the application, control systems, regulations, and customer expectations is essential to provide the right service.

Where one branch expects an engine to deliver 100% power 24/7 at nominal speed, the other assumes there is enough torque available to upshift under load when demand increases. One day we’re asked to replace the fuel nozzles of a pre-chamber engine in a noisy engine room, and the next day we’re standing in the mud to solve a CAN-bus issue in the exhaust aftertreatment system.
