Diesel Mechanic (Caterpillar)

Are you an experienced diesel mechanic who can independently diagnose faults and take responsibility for complete repair and overhaul projects? Then we are looking for you.

As an Independent Diesel Mechanic, you will work on Caterpillar diesel engines in the maritime and industrial sectors. You will not only perform maintenance and repairs but also independently diagnose technical issues, plan your work, and provide technical advice to customers. You will represent our company on-site and actively contribute to finding the best solutions for our clients.

At SDK Diesel Support, you will enjoy a high level of freedom and responsibility. You will work alongside a team of specialists while also being trusted to manage projects independently from diagnosis through to completion.

What Will You Do?

Depending on the assignment, you will work independently or together with colleagues in our workshop or at customer locations.

  • Independently perform maintenance, repair, and overhaul work on Caterpillar diesel engines.

  • Carry out mechanical and electrical diagnostics.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical faults.

  • Perform inspections and condition assessments.

  • Commission and test engines after repairs.

  • Advise customers on maintenance, operation, and technical improvements.

  • Prepare clear and accurate service reports.

  • Plan and organize your own work activities.

  • Support and mentor less experienced mechanics when required.

  • Occasionally perform assignments abroad.

What Do We Expect From You?

  • Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or field service engineer.

  • Ability to work independently and make technical decisions confidently.

  • Experience with fault-finding and diagnostics on diesel engines.

  • Knowledge of mechanical and electronic engine management systems.

  • MBO/HBO level of working and thinking, preferably in Diesel Technology, Internal Combustion Engine Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience with Caterpillar engines is a strong advantage.

  • Customer-focused and professional attitude.

  • Good command of the Dutch language.

  • Willingness to work occasionally on-site or abroad.

  • Valid driver's license (Category B).

  • Gross monthly salary between €3,000 and €4,500, depending on knowledge and experience.
