Cat 3606 into the digital age
Recently, at SDK Diesel Support BV, we brought one of the last 3606 engines in inland shipping into the digital age. All sensors and wiring dated back to the 1990s and were certainly no longer up to modern standards. During the conversion, we replaced all VDO sensors and digital circuits with analog sensors and new thermocouples.
All wiring on the engine has been replaced.
In the engine room, a new control cabinet has been installed with a DCU210E and an exhaust temperature scanner RIO412. On the bridge, a new panel, the RP480I, has been installed. Even though this engine, with almost 130,000 hours, has already served quite a purpose, it can keep going for years to come.
